you're kidding right? http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/iron_man/ 94% on rotten tomatoes right now and 91% with the top critics. I'd say that's pretty good, especially considering it's almost the exact same as Monty Python and the holy grail. (which is 94% and 92% by the way)

And there was something after the credits? Damn it! *checks youtube*
Ok I saw it.
I guess they're going with the black nick furry. They always use the white version.

| Okay, now speaking critically rather than what I personally thought, the film was actually very solidly made. The initial couple of scenes do a good job to reel the audience in with some jokes which also makes for some good character development for Tony Stark. The casino scene does a good job of further developing Tony Stark as a man that doesn't particularly care about awards and such and someone who just likes to have fun. I also thought that one of the particular highlights of the film for me was the kind of hidden but not hidden exposition there at the beginning, always makes me laugh when I think about it. It's one of the most obvious yet not exposition sequences I've ever seen in a mainstream film. I thought there was some very good chemistry between the cast, especially Tony and the Colonel and Tony and Pepper. A lot of the physical comedy in the film also helped to keep the pace going and keep all the scenes feeling fresh and new. The majority of the camera angles used were very good choices, and the static shots (non-stationary camera) were particularly good at portraying a dynamic mood and action. There were also some superb transitions that I didn't even notice the first time I watched it. On top of all that, they stuck to the original story which earns high marks in my book.
I respectfully disagree that it was just "alright." I'd give it 4.5 stars out of 5 and I'd say that this is one of the better movies out so far this year. Try to keep arguments and disagreements to pertain only to the quality of the film not one's personal opinion of it.

| why did they go with a black nick fury and a white iron man? that's opposite of the comics i read. so much for the sticking to the story line yoda. speaking of have you seen the previews for tropic thunder where robert downey plays a white guy, playing a black man in a movie. they should have used that make up in iron man to make him black. |

I was referring to the overall story, not the characters. I personally don't put that much importance on race, I'd rather have the movie be good rather than it being ethnically accurate. Plus, they might have auditioned some black men to play Tony but maybe they didn't fit his personality right. There's a lot of different reasons for casting certain people for certain roles. If the fact that he wasn't a black guy fucked up the movie for you, I'm sorry. It didn't for me so I didn't mention it in what I wrote.

| well, i just thought it was kinda funny that robert downey jr's next movie has him playing a white guy who is playing a black man in a movie which shows they could have made him look black in iron man and it would have gone with what was in the comics. i haven't seen the movie yet though, but the race isn't important as long as they have the same story line as in the comic. |

| it does and they used to put make up on black people too to make them look blacker during the time of the minstrel shows. They were very popular and very racist so idk that's what I think of when I hear about changing someone's race using makeup | |
